Personal Statement

Hello my name is Saravana Polisetti. When I first started playing hockey I just fell in love with the sport and I would love to keep showing this love to the sport by playing at the next level at collegiate hockey. Hockey is a team sport, not a one man show, so last season I pushed my teammates and myself to become better because nobody is perfect, there is always something to work on and because of this my coach made me a team captain. Being a team captain isn't easy because you have the responsibilities of taking care of the team and pressure from the coach and the hardships that life throws at you. Last season my grandfather passed away and during that time I was really depressed, but I came out of that depression because of hockey, I felt that the hockey showed me the same love I showed it. After that time I started putting less stress on my teammates because I realized that they might of hardships of their own and I shouldn't add more stress to their lives, but that doesn't mean that I didn't push them to be better. I also started being a much nicer person on the bench, I stopped yelling and becoming angry at my line mates for messing up, instead I gave constructive feedback, like showing them the play again. When the season ended I thought that this was the time for a player to prosper and I practiced almost everyday. On days that we didn't have gym workouts at practice, I worked out by myself by running or lifting weights.  Besides being an athlete, I'm a student and managing school and hockey is tough to do. At school I try my best to get the best grades that I can and I also try to be a good friend.  I really hope that this gives a perspective about me as a player and as a student.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
