Hi, My name is Matthew Topham and thank you for looking at my profile. I aspire to play collegiate level hockey after some time spent developing in the Junior leagues. Here is a bit about myself:
I am a two-way left defenseman who enjoys joining the rush. I am good at making a quick first pass out of the D zone and play physical in the corners and have a good read on the ice. I am aware of my strengths and weaknesses and am committed to developing my strengths and strengthening my weaknesses. I am proud to say that coaches consistently describe me as a great teammate and very coachable. Some of my top qualities in a team is great team dynamics, a coaching staff that pushes their players to strive for constant improvement and aims to really know their players and encourages the players to bond and lift each other up.
My speed is a great asset and each time I hit the ice I focus on increasing the speed and puck handling, and looking at the ways I can improve my game from all aspects.
For the 24/25 season, I am excited to be playing with the J18 Lidingo Vikings in Sweden.
I devote much of my training to off-ice practice, with strength building and puck handling agility at the top of my list.
Thanks again,
Matthew
