Hockey. A game, a sport, is my passion, and ever since I was eight years of age, I've been playing hockey and have progressed tremendously as a very well rounded player and team leader. This talent I have been given was not just of my own effort, but from the love and support of my family, as both of my parents are very substantial influences on me in the decisions that I make daily, and I would have never acquired any interest for becoming the young man I am, and my love for hockey or many other sports; if it was not for their constant push for me to strive and be the best that I can be.
Playing progressive hockey in our area on a youth travel team coming up mandated a lot of traveling and my family and I have traveled all over the United States, dedicating a lot of their personal time and money, which wasn't always easy for my parents. It's very difficult getting me to each and every one of my games, fall and spring leagues for 6 years, with practices, my parents just had to take so much time off from work, and were always in the stands cheering for me at every single game. On top of all that, my parents also have to take care of my three other sisters, of which two are in college, and younger sister whom is in Middle School.
If that does not show true commitment to your children what does?
At the age of fifteen, as a freshman, I tried out and worked very hard, and successfully made my High School JV hockey team. This for me was a huge accomplishment and opportunity because I not only wanted so bad to make the team, but I also wanted to do something special for my team. Great milestones, as by starting off our seasons with four wins in a row and finishing 7th overall in state, all was a huge accomplishment for my team as well as my freshman self.
The second year, I worked even harder and kept conditioning hard over the summer to get stronger and better at the game I love the most. By the end of this past season with the JV team, I set a personal record for myself and finished as one of the top ten players in the Scholastic Hockey League, out of about two-hundred players. This for me was a huge accomplishment, and makes me want to work even harder for the upcoming season. Without my family I could not have become, the very well rounded man I am today and received all my achievements I have so far in life.
Thank you.
