My athletic abilities have given me the gift to be a multi-dimensional player as I've been a two sport athlete with hockey and lacrosse. In high school, I was a dual credit-enrolled student and Graduated Batavia High School, May 2020 and currently enrolled at Waubonsee Community College. Currently completing the Fire Science program and look to transfer to a four year university where I can study Business Sports Management or Kinesiology.
Playing hockey, I’m quick and nimble being able to jump, miss players trying to hit me. I am good at drawing penalties for power plays. Coaches love that I'm the kind of utility player who can play forward both wing and center then switch to defense and excel. Coaches love this and they can rely on my diversity. During the 2018-19 hockey season, I started out playing center and wing until a few teammates were injured. The coach placed me in more of a defensive role because I am a fast skater. During the 2019-20 season, I was awarded an "A" for Alternate Captain for leadership among the team and have good communication skills. There are times when I will communicate with the Referee(s) on calls and then communicate the messages to the Head Coach on the bench.
The 2020-21 season has been a strange start due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The state of Illinois will not allow us to play games so we are traveling outside the state to play when possible. I have been awarded "C", Captain for the 2020-21 season for leadership and my ability to communicate well with officials and teammates alike.
When I was in high school, I played lacrosse. I would play multiple positions from Faceoff Specialist, Midfielder, Attack, and Defense plus play LSM. My speed and agility allow me to go from one end of the field to another while being versatile enough to play with both short and long poles. Rarely will I take penalties. Over the past two seasons, you can find me taking faceoffs. 2019 season I played both Varsity and JV, was the MVP Player.
I look for opportunities to pass and make the play's in both sports. Being a playmaker is just as important as scoring the goals.
You can find me being a leader on the team and looking for opportunities on or off the ice. People will say I’m a good teammate who is always cheering up teammates. Being a leader takes a variety of forms. It means to have the will, courage, vision, and ambition to step up to take charge. One of the most important qualities of a good leader is being humble. Show confidence but know and understand their own weakness. A strong leader picks those in need up and puts them on their shoulders in an attempt to get them back on track through support, encouragement, and education.
I am interested in fire science, EMT, nursing, physician assistant, and business sports management. I feel the need to serve others but am also interested in sports. I haven’t completely decided what my degree will be. I will be a transfer student from Waubonsee Community College. Currently, I’m on the President’s List with a GPA of 3.7 and part of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
