Ethan Koval '20 Recruiting Profile

I'm a speedy Defenseman with great play making abilities who sees the ice and where the next play should be.   I first became interested in hockey at age 4 while watching the Pittsburgh Penguins with my dad.  I remember watching the players and how they moved on the ice and thought I want to play for a team and do that too.  Up to this point, I've played on teams where we won a Presidents Cup, won state and regional tournaments, and our division.  I've also played for teams that have only won a hand full of games all season, got swept at tournaments, and never made it to divisional playoffs.  It is those teams that I remember best as that is what pushes me to do my best on every shift no matter if it's in practice or in a game.  Being a defenseman I've learned how to be humble in victories and gracious in defeats.  Even though with my last team I didn't have a letter on my chest, my coaching staff counted on me to be a team leader due to my work-ethic both on and off the ice.  

I know there will be bigger commitments, more sacrifices, and further life lessons  to learn at the collegiate level.  But I am dedicated to advancing my education and growth as a player.  I look forward to bringing the skills I have, my dedication to the team, my passion for the game, and my desire to grow both on and off the ice to the next level.
