Hello Coach and thank you for taking the time to view my profile. I currently play for the Vipers Hockey Club U16 CSDHL team (www.csdhl.org) as a left wing but am adaptable to play (and have) both center and right wing as well. My strengths on the ice are that I am a competitive player and supportive teammate both on and off the ice. When on the ice, I make the most of every shift and line that I’m on to generate plays with my teammates at both ends. Whether that consists of a physical forecheck or hustling on a backcheck I always try to be a physical and notable presence on the ice. Another strong aspect of my game is my vision and ability to see the game as well as anticipate where and what direction a play may go. One of the areas I pride myself on are my stick handling abilities and what weaknesses a defense offers to exploit and give my team opportunities to score. Based on these types of situations is what dictates my quick decision-making ability to enter zones and generate scoring opportunities with my teammates. I’ve always believed and been coached that an excellent assist that scores a goal is as exciting to be a part of/watch as the goal itself and that has been a large part of my selfless play. My deception in making good passes and my unselfishness to my teammates has allowed me to enjoy many of these types of moments. The physical aspect of the game is another element that I enjoy and appreciate. I have no reservations about going into corners for a puck or using myself to block shots as well as giving/receiving checks. Doing this has allowed me to be on starting lines for both PKs and PPs to help my team at both ends of the ice. Both my current and former Coaches would attest to me being a very coachable player with an above average hockey IQ as I learn and execute new systems quickly and effectively and assist my teammates in these areas as well. My belief and what I’ve been coached is that a positive team culture along with hard work both on and off the ice is what really bonds and makes a balanced team win or lose. Academically I’m not exact on what I’d like to pursue in my studies, however sports and finance interest me, so perhaps a combination of the two at some team level involving sports/athletes which is what I hope to learn and explore at the college level.
I look forward to my future as a player and being coached at the collegiate level of play wherever that may prove to be a good fit and welcome further discussion on how I can be a useful asset to your team. Thanks again for your time and consideration and I’ll look forward to hearing from you.
