Personal Statement

Today is a great day for hockey! My name is Vincent Reiley and I am a senior at Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, MD. I am writing to express my interest in joining your ice hockey team as a goalie for the 2024-2025 season and beyond.

As a goalie for the Ice Cards (my high school team) and Tomorrow's Ice Selects Premier 16U AA team (my club team last year), I have gained valuable experience and honed my skills on and off the ice. I am a calm, steady netminder who rarely gets frustrated or shows emotion. I pride myself on my stoicism. I am also a strong communicator and work well with my defensemen to shut down the opposition's offense. I am there for my team every game.

What sets me apart from other recruits is my passion and drive for the game. I am constantly working to improve my skills and am always looking for ways to contribute to the team's success. Specifically, I have played over 80 games each year for three years between my high school and club schedule.  In the off season, I train three times a week with Coach Bryan Canter of Defending the Crease Goaltending in Abingdon, MD.

In addition to my athletic abilities, I pride myself on being a dedicated student-athlete. I have maintained a 3.7 GPA (4.0 adjusted) throughout high school while balancing the demands of being a member of the high school ice hockey team, my club team, and the highly selective, intensive Honors program at Calvert Hall named the “McMullen Scholars”. I understand the importance of maintaining a balance between academics, athletics, and I am committed to continuing my academic success in college.

In addition to my passion for the game and dedication as a student-athlete, I also have specific collegiate goals and aspirations that align with the mission and values of your program. I would like to pursue a career in dentistry, specifically orthodontics.

As a member of your team, I am confident that I can make a positive impact both on and off the ice. I am committed to being a dedicated and hardworking teammate, and I am willing to put in the extra effort to help the team succeed.

In summary, I believe that my combination of athletic abilities, academic dedication, and collegiate goals make me a strong candidate for your team. I am eager to be a leader both on and off the ice, and I am dedicated to representing the school with integrity and sportsmanship and help the team achieve its goals.

I would be honored to have the opportunity to join your team and contribute to the success of the program. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Drop the puck,

Vincent Reiley
