My name is Matt Jacobs and I work hard as a student athlete to become the best student and hockey player that I can be. I hope to demonstrate a "first to serve" attitude, in the classroom, at the rink, and in my everyday life.
I will be attending Northfield Mount Hermon and playing hockey for Coach Pratt a post graduate in the 2015-16 school year.. In the fall, I will also be a member of the Boston Junior Bruins 19U Split Season Team. My goal is to continue to play hockey in college.
This spring and summer I will be attending several Showcase Events. I will be playing at the the USPHL Spring and Summer Showcases, and, the Islanders Showcase all with the Junior Bruins. I will also be attending the NHT Camp at the Berkshire School in May.
This off-season I am continuing to work on increasing my strength, speed and agility with hockey specific training with the Jr. Bruins.
My skating ability continues to be an important part of my game and it differentiates me from other players. I am skating weekly with my personal skating coach throughout the spring and summer.
During the 2014-15 season, I played for the 18U South Shore Kings. The Kings play in the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL). The previous season I was one of the leading public school scorers in the the state. I was named to the ESPN.com All Conference Team and the DCL/MVC All Star Team I was also selected as a 1st Team All Star by the Metro West Daily News, the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald.
"Matt is a well rounded skater who is strong on his feet. He has a powerful startup and a strong stride. Matt has quick feet, great lateral movement and transitions well. Matt has great edge quality and control." D. Taylor, Sharper Edge Skating School June 2013
The following is a quote from my High School Coach/Athletic Director when asked if I had a chance to play hockey in college;
"Yes I do. Your as skilled a player as I’ve had. You also have great offensive game sense. The key for you is getting stronger. I think a realistic timeline is at least four and probably five more seasons of hockey, including varsity hockey at L- S and then varsity hockey at prep school or possibly juniors" P. Ellenbaas, HC L/S Hockey October 2012
