Whatever It Takes
“All successful people have a goal. No one can get anywhere unless he knows where he wants to go and what he wants to be or do.”-Norman Vincent Peale. Although I am only going to be 15 years old, I believe that I have shown leadership, Integrity and strive to meet my Goals. Being a student athlete can provide me a better opportunity to achieve those goals.
I have been a leader my whole life. For example, during my first Bantam year I was named captain of the Vegas Jr. Golden Knight 14UA hockey team. This means I would have to show leadership on and off the ice. I have shown leadership by behaving in the locker rooms and in the hotels. I would also talk to referees during games about team penalties and other behavior on the ice. I believe that this leadership as well as my hard work and dedication was noticed by the14UAA coach who brought me up to his team.
My mother always says that “Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching.” I try to demonstrate integrity in all that I do. For example, I have attended school online for the past year due to Covid 19. During my online sessions I can easily switch to different tabs to play games or watch videos without my teachers knowing but I do not do this. I do the work all on my own. My education is very important to me because I aspire to be a pilot.
When I am an adult I plan to become a pilot after the conclusion of my Hockey career. I have attended flight school and I have 9 hours of flight time. While in the cockpit I have practiced takeoffs, landings and even engine failures to prepare me for my pilots license. I have also been playing hockey since I was 3 years old. I have played for many teams and have traveled around the world for games. Just last year I was given the opportunity to play in one of the largest youth tournaments in the world, the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament in Quebec, Canada. While in Quebec I played teams from Canada, Hungary, and the USA. I have played in the International Silversticks Tournament in Port Huron in 2022. We also made it to the Semifinal game in the Tier II USA Hockey Championships in 2022.
I have been fortunate to have a variety of Hockey experiences and can't image life without hockey being a part of it. I am willing to work hard and do whatever it takes to play college hockey.
