My goal since I started playing hockey I have aspired to play in college. My goal is to play for a competitive collegiate program that gives me the opportunity to continue playing while also achieving academic success and staying socially involved. I would be a good candidate because I may be small but I am physical and tenacious along the boards. I'm good along the boards breaking the puck out and I cut to the net looking for rebounds. I also am very successful on penalty kill; my on-ice +/- this season was +2 when we were a man down. In addition to these traits I also possess many locker room characteristics.
I try to encourage my teammates when we are down and in bad situations. I try to be a leader on and off the ice by showing up everyday to the offseason team lifts and helping the underclassman figure out the movements and routines we have. Further in the offseason I took it upon myself to find a speed and conditioning coach as well as a skating coach to be fully prepared for the upcoming season.
Throughout my high school career I have strived for academic success through all of my classes, frequently taking advantage of my teachers' office hours and extra study sessions. finally I have participated in various clubs and after school activities including relay for life, varsity soccer, and fundraisers for cancer research. Thus, the combination of all these qualities makes me a competitive candidate to play collegiate level hockey.
