Hello, my name is Dominik Caspers and I am a sophomore who is the varsity goalie for Marshall High School, in Minnesota. There are many people that have influenced me in my hockey career adults, family, friends, and teammates. I think that it is very important to have people to support and motivate you to keep you pushing through everything to achieve your goal. The adults in the community congratulate me on the games I play and I really appreciate the recognition. It gives me motivation to share what I have learned through all my training and pass it on. I volunteer to assist in practices for the younger kids and also help the other goalies my age in skill development. My family have helped me overcome obstacles, push me to be better, and to be true myself whether it is in life, school, or sports. They have always said " no matter what you do in life, one simple bad impression on someone and they will remember you for that one thing for a very long time, so be nice to everyone even if they are not nice to you." I try to remember this statement because it is very true in so many ways. The friends I surround myself with are people that stay out of trouble and do good thing in the community. In a hockey game you need your teammates because there is no "I" in team, so I try to pick them up when I can, support them in any way I can, and they do same things for me. I am three sport athlete, football, year round hockey and a member of the trap shooting team. In every sports I give it my all. I don't quit because there are people that are depending on me to finish. It feels really good to work really hard for something and to finish and know you did your best. I like having that feeling, so I give everything I got into it!! I believe that school is the most important, that why it called "Student Athlete". Your time playing sports can be limited, but your education lasts a lifetime. That why school comes first even before sports. I am proud of the time and extra work that I put in for academics to receive good grades to be able to continue to play. After high school hockey, I would like to play at the next level of hockey and ultimately complete my education with a college degree. I love the game of hockey because of the determination and skill it takes to play, the support needed from friends, family and teammates, and the community that stands behind every team.
