Major Cardin '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Major Cardin and I am a 4.0 GPA International Baccalaureate junior in high school, aspiring to study engineering. I am searching for a college to continue to play hockey while I work towards my degree. As a three sport varsity athlete in tennis, track and hockey I have learned to put in the work and effort to improve. For thirteen years, hockey has offered me an opportunity to not only play the sport I love, but to also be part of a team. Over those years of playing and watching my dad coach my peers, I have learned from him that the high morale and encouraging environment of a team can heavily affect its performance. Therefore,  I've taken it upon myself to follow his lead and foster those factors on the teams I have been a part of. Being a leader doesn't always mean being the best on the team,  sometimes it means pushing others to be the best, and while I am constantly pushing myself to improve my game, I've learned that it is not always the most important contribution. One of the things that I admire most about Wayne Gretzky is that he was more proud of his assists record than his goal record, so as I move from high school to college, I hope that I can continue to try to improve both myself and my teammates.
