Brayden Faley '28 Recruiting Profile

My name is Brayden Faley and I am a defensemen in the 2028 class.  I am dedicated both on and off the ice for both hockey and school.  In school, I am taking honors classes and I plan to keep taking them for the rest of time in high school.  My goals are to continue to play hockey at a high level while earning a college degree at the same time.  My family uses the term student-athlete a lot as they say “school comes first.”  This applies even when I'm out of town at a hockey tournament as I take responsibility to learn and make up the assignments that I missed while outside of school.  Also, I have made honor roll the past 3 years, showing that I am dedicated to hockey and to school.  Right now, I'm entering my freshman year and while I don't know my exact career path just yet I enjoy things that are more focused on math and science and I always love something that challenges me.

As an athlete I was selected as an alternate captain of my 13 pure team for the 2023-24 season.  This shows that my leadership abilities were recognized by both my teammates and coaches.  During my career I have faced many challenges.  For example, I broke my wrist and was out for about a month and I also have not made certain teams that I tried out for.  Those experiences make me push harder and become even more dedicated to hockey. I also make sure to balance it with school.  Due to my dedication and work ethic I have started to workout more by shooting pucks and stickhandling at home.  I also find time to lift weights and do some cardio.  I have my parents bring me to the rink as many chances as we can get.  Finally, I have been watching a lot of film of my games and professional games to keep learning the game.  My dedication both on the ice, off the ice, in the classroom, and everywhere else will continue when I get to the college level.
