I want to play hockey. I have loved the game since I was 7 and I cannot imagine myself without it. It has shaped me as a person more than I could have ever thought. I do not want my career to stop after high school is over, I want to continue to play, I want to continue to play at a high level, and I will do what it takes to do so.
One thing that sets me apart from other goalies is my drive and work ethic. At this level, every goalie is good, every goalie moves well, and every goalie makes great saves. However, not every goalie steps on this ice every day of the week. Not every goalie sets up lessons on the side to strengthen their weaknesses. Not every goalie tells themselves to be happy, but never be satisfied. I strongly believe that someone should take pride in their success and share a good mood with others, but never be content with what they've done. I strive to be better on and off the ice and will continue to do so with the intention of always improving myself.
Academically, I always apply myself to the best of my ability. I always push myself in every class until success. I study during my free time until I know the concepts and perform beyond expectations on the assessments. I have found my balance between hockey and school, managing both without letting either falter. My GPA remains high as well as my SAT and ACT scores. I plan on continuing my academic career in the field of biomedical engineering and I am ready for the challenges ahead.
I hold myself high. I believe that respect is one of the most important values to hold. This includes both respecting others and holding myself in a respectable manner. On the ice, that means to never slam my stick, never yell, never insult another player, and always shake the hand of every player at the end of the game. Off the ice, it means always listening to those who are speaking, never speaking in a rude manner, and much more. Good behavior is contagious, and I have always seen it as one of my roles to demonstrate this.
