John Paul Sferra '23 Recruiting Profile

My Name is John Paul Sferra or JP for short. I grew up playing hockey in New Jersey. My mom grew up in communist Czech Republic and came to the US when she was a young adult. She always taught me, appreciate your freedom, always work hard and make the most of your life. My dad grew up in New Jersey, a full time Musician/teacher. He always taught me practice, practice, practice. These values are what inspire me athletically as well as academically. Ive been playing travel hockey since the age of 8 and varsity hockey throughout my high school years. We won the conference title as a sophmore, and I've been a leading scorer in New Jersey since then. My favorite part of hockey is playing with and against players that are better than me and being able to learn from them. As I am a team player and unselfish, I am most concerned with myself excelling as a player and I’m looking for a program that will be a good fit for me. My greatest trait is my speed, I am very fast and have a good shot. I’ve been an honer student throughout high school and have good work ethic. I love hockey, and at this point in my life, I am completely devoted to the game.
