I am a 6'2", 220lb hockey player who play's right wing/center and can play defense when necessary. I played one year of D1 hockey at Washington & Jefferson College in Pennsylvania. I received offers while I was at the school to go play in Canada and in Sweden. I chose Sweden but came back because I didnt think I was ready but I might be going back to a different team. I recently played 16 games in the GMHL for the Lumberjacks. I am a former four year varsity player and a member of the 2009/10, 2011/12 & 2012/13 Catholic Prep Schools City Champs. I was also honored to be named to the 2012/13 Senior Allstars. I also played for the ESHL Brewster Jr. Bulldogs and I also play mens league open hockey and have been named alternate captain for my team. And I find the time to play the spring/summer showcase circut in Boston.
In addition, I was an honor student and I had been invited to attend forums with the National Youth Leadership Forum on Law and Medicine, both state-side and abroad while maintaining a 3.5 GPA. Earlier on, my school picked me to be part of a three year science research program in cooperation with the State University of New York at Albany. My responsibility was to work alongside a doctor as a research assistant in the study of cardiac disease in high school athletes. Upon completion I would have been awarded twelve college credits in the sciences. Unfortunately, the doctors with whom I was affiliated from Long Island Jewish Hospital lost their funding and my participation abruptly ended during my junior year. I did recieve 4 college credits for the work that I had completed.
I was also involved with a local church community that has recently become a feeding site for the underprivileged and homeless. At my school I belong to a special hand selected group of students to serve as part of the Campus Ministry. We do special service requsets in the school as well as serving our community. We go to childrens hospitals and senior living centers. We organize special fundraisers for in school needs and out of school. I recently spearheaded a fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Sandy. In my school we assisted approximately 12 students and multiple members of the school staff, that lost all or most of there possessions to the storm. These experiences have developed my listening skills and it has heightened my humanitarian concerns.
My interests are many and therefore, I would like to attend a school that fosters a community of accelerated learning but also one where there are many opportunities to get involved, and grow. It is also important to me that the school has an ice hockey team or a club team. I have also played football on a competative level but my true passion is to be on the ice with the opportunity to lift my team and school to victory. Whether it is scoring a goal, assisting on the game winner or executing a well placed check to spring a teammate into the open ice, that is what I yearn to do.
