Personal Statement

Dear Coaches,

My ambition is to attend college and play hockey at a competitive level. Throughout my academic and my athletic career, I have always strived for my personal best.  I have a strong drive to succeed, which helps me maintain my status as an honor roll student and pushes me to continually better myself on the ice.

I strive to share my determination, my competitive edge, and my passion for the game. I have been able to do this by serving as a camp counselor for Thomas Greiss’ summer hockey camps, where I am able to hone my leadership skills as I work to develop younger players within our organization.

My coach considers me a dedicated scholar and a committed athlete. I am able to responsibly and successfully balance my education, my part-time job, my family, and my rigorous training and playing schedule.

Attending a highly acclaimed college will allow me to achieve my goals, which are to acquire an exceptional education and play the game I love at an elite level.

  • General Information Camper's Name: Cheyne Mosher Camp: UNE-1v1D- Biddeford - 1v1 Private Coaching Day (Includes Lunches) Camp Date: 07/30/2018 Player Evaluation Scale 5 - Exceptional 4 - Very Good 3 - Good 2 - Satisfactory 1 - Needs Improvement NA - Does Not Apply Pro Ambitions Hockey Player Evaluation Camper Instructor: Jack MacLaughlin Skating: 4 - Forward Stride3 - Backward Stride4 - Forward Start4 - Forward Stop3 - Backward Stop3 - FWD to BWD Pivot3 - BWD to FWD Pivot4 - Agility4 - Edge Control4 - Speed3 - Crossover Stop Comments: Cheyne's skating was solid all around this week. His stride lengthened and became more explosive, which was great to see. His backwards starts should start with crossovers rather than c-cuts. His pivots also need some work, instead of taking wide turns, open your hips to quickly switch directions. His speed and agility lead him to become very good offensively as well. Puck Control: 4 - Stickhandling4 - Puck Protection4 - Forehand Pass Send3 - Backhand Pass Send4 - Forehand Pass Receive3 - Backhand Pass Receive4 - Shot Accuracy4 - Shot Release3 - Wrist shot technique3 - Backhand shot technique3 - Slap shot technique (PW and above only) Comments: Cheyne's stickhandling was good this week but he should know that the top hand does all the work and the bottom hand is just a guide. I suggest he uses a golf ball to practice over the summer. His forehand passes were also a very good weapon this week but he needs to work on his backhand passes. I suggest he uses a mr. assist to work on that. His shot can also get better, continue to practice your shot in stride by shooting as many pucks as possible. Body Contact: 3 - Body Contact Development3 - Ability to Play through Body Contact3 - Ability to Initiate Body Contact3 - Body checking (PW and above only) Comments: Cheyne does a great job of playing through body contact. He keeps his feet moving when engaged physically and drives through the contact. He shows tenacity on the ice that will serve him well in the future. Keep up the hard work and keep playing tough! Mental Skills: 5 - Coachability5 - Competitive Edge4 - Confidence5 - Leadership Ability5 - Team Oriented5 - Battle Ready4 - Overall Mental Toughness Comments: Cheyne is an excellent kid, he works hard everyday both on and off the ice, which is hard to do. He was ready everyday to give his all and it showed worth while as he got better all week. I suggest he continues his confidence on the ice by trying different things and watching the most hockey he can to better his hockey IQ. Individual and Team Game Skills: 5 - Offensive Creativity5 - Offensive Anticipation/Support4 - Defensive Intelligence5 - Defensive Anticipation/Support Comments: Cheyne has a good sense of where to be on the offensive end and naturally puts himself in good positions on the ice. He has a good sense of how to put himself in a good scoring situation and knows where the puck will be. He could work on not watching the puck at times and instead be aware of what else is going on. This will help him not get stuck out of position, especially in the defensive zone. Instructor's Final Comments on Player's Week at Camp: Great job this week Cheyne. It was a pleasure!
