2022 SpotlightPersonal Statement
My name is Connor Russo and I am an 18 year old hockey player, hockey business enthusiast and musical performer from Toronto, Ontario Canada. From as early as I can remember, I have loved every aspect of the game of hockey. Like many players, my favorite place is on the ice, whether I am playing a game, practicing or participating in skills training. My love of hockey goes far beyond the ice, however. When not on the ice, I am consumed with the business of hockey - team rosters, salary caps, player stats, trades, drafts and prospects - as well as hockey media. A few years ago, I created my own hockey YouTube channel - Connor's Corner - for which I was the content creator, editor and on air personality.
I am currently taking a gap year, however I was an honors student throughout all 4 years of high school, and am looking to take a Sports Management, Sports Media, or Business degree at University or College . Home-schooled until grade 9, I have been able to explore my passions of hockey, entrepreneurship, performance and music as part of my education. My parents are entrepreneurs, owning a business consulting company in the fitness industry, the Pro Fitness Program. This background has undoubtedly influenced my desire to marry my interests of hockey and business.
I'm also a musician and performer and have been taking guitar, drum and vocal lessons for 12 years. I have headlined numerous shows throughout Canada and the United States as an Elvis Tribute Artist and have 14 Grand Championships. Click here to see some of my performances.
