One of the biggest moments in my life that have influenced me to be the person that I am today are the many different experiences I was able to have throughout high school. Throughout my four years of high school I have attended four different schools: Holy Cross Catholic Academy. Everest Academy, Blyth Academy, and Thousand Island Secondary School. I did not transfer every year for a bad reason of course. I transferred to find the best opportunity for myself to play college hockey. Holy Cross was my local high school which was when I first started thinking about playing college hockey. Everest and Blyth Academy are athletic schools that developed my on ice skills drastically. And Thousand Island was the school that I attend during my first year of junior hockey. Without these experiences I wouldn’t be the determined and hardworking student athlete I am today.
I first started becoming interested in hockey after I won my first house league championship. Winning the championship felt great but I needed more so I decided to try out of representative hockey in the GTHL. I surprisingly made a single A team and played the season as the only goalie on the team. I developed substantially and since then I have been determined to climb the levels of hockey wanting the play against the best competition I possibly can and prove that I am a great goalie and get that same feeling that I had after winning that house league championship when I was a kid.
From playing hockey since I was seven the one thing that I have developed is a strong competitiveness in not just hockey but everything I do. In games I do whatever it takes to win, practice I never want to get scored on, and in school I always want to get a better mark then I did previously.
My academic goals for college is to get a degree in Psychology and become a sports psychologist. I have experienced many things throughout playing sports and with my knowledge I believe that I can help athlete’s who are struggling mentally and get them to be playing the best they can by not worrying about what is going on off their playing field so that they can excel on their playing field.
