My name is C.J. Gworek, and I am a hockey player in the class of 2026 looking for opportunities to continue my development in Junior hockey and college hockey.
Last summer, my family and I moved from Nashville to the Pittsburgh area, which was a challenge, but I learned I can be successful on and off the ice even in a brand new environment. On the ice, I am a very versatile player, having played forward for the majority of my hockey career before switching to defense this past season due to my team's needs. This upcoming year I may have to move back to forward for the same reason on my club team, but I will be playing defense on my high school team, and I believe that is likely my best fit long-term. I know that means a lot of hard work to catch up at a relatively new position, but I believe my ceiling is higher on defense. Either way, I am a competitor who will do what is best for the team.
While I have often been one of the best players on my teams and led my teams in scoring, I am anxious to play at the highest level possible and will not shy away from competing for ice time. My last season in Nashville I changed clubs to play for former NHL player Ryan Smyth and had to work my way up the lineup on a very good team. By the end of the season, I was on the second line and we went to 14U Nationals as a team of all 13-year-olds.
Off the ice, I am a hard worker learning to manage my time balancing playing on two hockey teams and working in the off-season.
