Personal Statement

Dear College Coach,

My name is Thomas Malvar who currently attends Kennedy Catholic High School. I have played hockey for 11 years and recently grew interest in playing college hockey. I am a well-rounded individual, playing various sports, have participated in other hobbies (taekwondo black belt, instruments and community service related activities) all while receiving great awards and most importantly, maintaining excellent grades in high-level courses at a education-first high school.

I believe I am a good candidate for college hockey because I exemplify good character and take pride in whatever team I represent. The way I act around others is with kindness and respect. If I were to show anger or disappointment towards another person, I make sure that I resolve the situation and display my sorrow for the mistake I made. During games, I take all these qualities into consideration by encouraging my teammates and leading them towards success in-game.

I have always played with competition older than me. Therefore, I feel like I am different in the way that I have developed during my time playing hockey. I also play better under pressure or whenever the game is at a higher value than usual. I have many memories scoring the GWG or making the most significant play during an important game.

With these qualities comes the work ethic. I love working really hard in whatever I do. I take all the information that is given to me and use it to excel my game by working hard. Therefore, if you recruit me, I will be sure to apply all that I explained to your program.

Thank You for reading my personal statement about myself!

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           -Thomas Malvar

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
