I would like to play hockey for as long as I can because I love the game. I started playing hockey when I was 6 on our local MOHL team. However, the league suggested to my parents when I was in PeeWee that they should move me to an Amateur league. The closest one was 2 hours from our home. I tried out and made an AA team and have been playing AA/AAA hockey since then, 2 - 3 hours from my home.
My parents drove me 3-5 times a week to practice and games before I could drive myself. I have played for various AA travel teams in Buffalo (NY), most playing against AA teams. As a freshman I started playing for a high school team (Knoch Knights - Varsity D2) near Pittsburgh (PA) because my high school doesn't offer hockey. In the summer, I either play on a 3v3 team run by Mark Zarbo or another summer league in Buffalo.
My parents told me I would have to quit hockey if I ever complained about the traveling, lack of sleep, doing homework in the car, getting home at 2am to get up at 6am for school, etc. I never complained. I have taken every Advanced (Honors) class offered at my high school. I am now taking three College in the Classroom courses this year where I will earn 9 college credits. I have been on the Honor Roll every marking period since Kindergarten. I'm a good team player, coachable, I love to learn, and I love the game.
Note: My profile is a bit confusing because I attend Smethport High School in Smethport, PA but I play hockey for Knoch High School (Saxonburg, PA) and I live in Mount Jewett, PA. All my club hockey teams are out of NY because it is actually closer for me to play in NY, but they won't let me play high school in NY since I live in PA.
