I first began playing hockey at the age of four. When I first stepped on the ice, I immediately fell in love with the sport. My family moved to Greenville SC from Atlanta in 2011. I was given the opportunity to pursue and play the game of hockey at a higher level. In all those twelve years, my skill level has grown and enabled me to always play at the top levels for my age.
Currently, I play for the Greater Greenville Hockey Association, Road Warrior U16 AA and High School team. Thanks to my Puerto Rican roots I can play for the Puerto Rico National team. The Puerto Rico Ice Hockey Association is opening the doors for enthusiastic hockey lovers with Puerto Rican heritage, like me, to play in another level.
Since I started my high schools’ years, my focus and aspiration has been to play hockey at the US collegiate level. I know that being able to play at this level is a once in a lifetime opportunity that could change my whole life.
At the rink, I consider myself to be a team leader who tries to lead by example whilst encouraging his teammates. Every day, I put hockey gear and head to the rink, striving to be the hardest working player on the team. I will never be outworked by another player! I have been truly fortunate to have played for great coaches, many of whom I now consider to be my best friends and all of which would say I am very coachable and mentally tough. On the ice, I consider my strengths to be a solid two-way player with a good shot, a strong skater who is dominant in the faceoff circle and prides himself on winning his one-on-one battles. Off the ice, I train every day at the gym. I know that being strongest is a fundamental key to playing a good game. One could sum up my successes with work ethic and the need to keep pushing myself to improve in the classroom, at the gym and on the ice.
In the classroom, I work hard at my studies, whilst maintaining a balanced class load to enable any preferred field of college study.
In summary, I want to attend a college where I can push myself both in the classroom as well as in the ice. I am open to all options and want to find the right college to match with the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a significant role model to all my peers and make my parents proud.
