Hockey has always been a monumental part of my life. I started when I was 5, just learning skating basics. I joined the 6u team sometime later, officially beginning a lifelong hobby. I continued to grow my skills and join new teams as I grew older. Squirts, Pewees, Bantam, 18u A, and finally, 18u AA hockey. Throughout my path, I have learned from many excellent coaches; a few of my favorites have been Coach Jason, Austin Coldwell, and Coach Leslie. Coach Jason was the head coach for the first few years of hockey. He taught me the very basics of the sport while having fun. Another coach I had during a young age was Coach Austin. As a professional hockey player turned coach, Coach Austin guided me through the sport, teaching me the intricate web of skills needed to be a good hockey player. Around the same time, I started learning with Coach Leslie, a multi-award-winning figure skater. She taught me almost everything I know about edge work. With her help, my edges have been consistently better than most of my teammates. She helps me to this day, honing my skill on ice and keeping me playing as best as I can. Taking these skills, I have begun coaching myself. Teaching youth hockey at Mt. View Ice Arena. I plan to continue learning from amazing coaches as I get closer to college.
