I am proud of my performance this past year and I keep getting better. It's not work if you love it!
The first time I picked up a lacrosse stick, it was an instant love. I had played baseball, flag football and soccer my entire life. My town did not have a lacrosse team, nor did any kids at my school even know what lacrosse was. My older cousin from Southern California was on a high school lacrosse team. After seeing him play, I knew I wanted to try the sport.
Having to repair or earn the money to pay for the repair costs to walls, windows, and my mothers decorations inside and outside of the house, was worth it. The feeling of controlling my shots, and always striving to be the best is forever my focus. The more I played the game the more I became infatuated with it. All I wanted to do was play this sport. I knew it would change my life in a big way therefore I was truly devoted.
I attended many clinics to learn the sport and get better. It was my second year playing lacrosse when Matt Donovan from Syracuse NY came to CA to be my team coach. Matt took my skills and lacrosse IQ to a new level. I found myself being an asset and leader to my team.
In 2019 I spent my entire summer on the East Coast playing with the Middlesex Bears Lacrosse Team. I found my home! I knew I had to do what it would take to go to college and play lacrosse. I studied hard and made sure I carried a 4.0+ GPA since my freshman year. I took as many AP Classes as possible and have been taking ASL at a local junior college since my freshman year.
Last year, I had the honor of leading my High School Varsity Team as their Captain to an undefeated season. I have been a First Team -Varsity Lacrosse player since my freshman year. Everyday I try to make myself better, being a leader for my teammates, always pushing myself to the limits and leading by example. Last summer I spent 3 weeks in Philadelphia. I attended the Trilogy ICE Program and played on the ICE22 Team coached by Matt Striebel. Matt moved me to midfielder which took my skills and playing to the next level. He was the best mentor I could ask for. Matt had me playing offense and defense. I was awarded the tournament All Star Honor (one of two from our team).
The endless support of my parents has also been a big part of my success. They have helped me with everything, from driving me 3 hours a day to lacrosse practice, sacrificing family vacations to fly or drive me to tournaments and be honest with me when I didn't have the best day on the field. They have taught me that hard work is the foundation that leads the way to reaching my highest goals. I am driven to be the first generation college graduate in my family and represent my Native American heritage.
I am very lucky to have two families...the one I live with, and my lacrosse teammates . We have grown up together, and have a strong brotherhood that we have formed over the years. No one plays for themselves, everybody plays for their brother next to them. This is my last year playing for my high school team as a senior. I am looking forward to playing a full season and forging that brotherhood and passing the stick to the younger players to carry on with the foundation we have built and encourage schoolmates to try this amazing sport.
