Hello,
My name is Ethan Sheklow and I am a rising senior at Crescenta Valley High School. My story might be a little different than other players you encounter. Although I have been playing sports my entire life, it wasn't until my freshman year of high school that I found my passion for lacrosse. Up until that time I was a soccer and baseball player. I played baseball from the ages of 5 to 12 and soccer from age 5 until my freshman year.
When I started high school I was ready for a change. My sister was a lacrosse player and it always sounded interesting. It was then that I decided to try out for the team. It was also at that time that I found my calling. Lacrosse was it, it was MY sport. I started as a varsity player and found a passion for a sport that I never felt before. Then COVID hit and although my season got cut short, I took that time to practice and learn the sport. By my second year I was a starting player.
Why am I different from other great players? I am different because you won't get someone who is more willing to listen, to do whatever is asked by the coach and his team, and truly take constructive criticism to heart. My goal is to be the best teammate I can be. I am dedicated, a team player, and passionate.
I have a learning disability that makes comprehension difficult for me. I am not telling you this for sympathy, but because it is what has made me acquire an important skill at a very young age. I know what it means to work harder than others to be successful. There are times I work unbelievably hard, but am not as successful as I would like. However, I never give up. Failure pushes me to work even harder, and to be the best I can be. Sometimes I may not be the smartest person in class or the greatest player on the field, but you can be assured, I will always strive to be so!
Thank you for your consideration!
