Liam Cavanaugh-Fernandez '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Liam Cavanaugh-Fernandez I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I am entering my senior year at Cathedral Catholic High School were I started at attack and was the leading scorer ( ahead of 2 upperclassmen attack who are committed to Division 1 Lacrosse programs at Marquette and Belarmine with other upperclassman teamates committed to Notre Dame, Maryland, Babson, Vassar ) . I was one of the leading scorers in the San Diego County Open Division. I have strong family ties to the east coast as my Dad is the oldest of ;9 kids from an Irish Catholic family in Connecticut so I have lots of relatives and friends throughout New England. My Mom is an architect from Guadalajara, Mexico. I have traveled throughout Mexico and speak Spanish as my 2nd language. I have been playing lacrosse since 3rd grade and also have play competitive socce. My goal is to play lacrosse at a high level in college and to obtain a degree in Business with major in International business Entrepreneurship or Marketing. I also have interest in Film /Media. I like business as I enjoy talking about new business ideas or new approaches to existing businesses. I am considering International business to use my language skills and dual citizenship (Application pending) . Besides sports I am an avid photographer; specializing is surf photography. I have always been an aggressive lacrosse player who has spent many minutes in the penalty box as a young player. As I matured I have channeled this energy into aggressive play going after ground balls and scoring and rarely finding the penalty box now. I have been told by my coaches that they love my enthusiasm and leadership. I try to lead by example and work hard on and off field In school I am a good student with mostly A / B's I tend to do better in classes that interest me ; but in all classes I put in the effort to get good grades I am graduating High School in 2017 but I am considering a Post Graduate year (2018) to work on my physical and academic skils if this helps me get into my preferred College.
