I first became interested in lacrosse when I went to an Outlaws Ability Camp with my Dad who is a disabled vet. After speaking to my Dad's friend, who is a single arm amputee, about his high school lacrosse experience, I wanted that same experience.
I have learned a lot from lacrosse about my mental and physical toughness. Playing lacrosse has showed me that size isn't everything. Hard work, skill and determination are great equalizers. My inner strength was tested last summer when I broke my foot mid game and I powered through. I had been having an amazing tournament, so I had to finish out the game for my team. I am a smaller athlete, stature wise, but in lacrosse, I am able to overcome that by becoming faster, more skilled and more athletic.
I have had to overcome personal adversity most of my life as my parents divorced when I was very young. They have both remarried so I have had to manage 2 sets of parents, rules, homes, etc. I had to mature early and learn to take care of my own business.
I am still undecided on a field of study but I am striving to get good grades in everything I study, especially my advanced science classes. I enjoy volunteering with 719Lacrosse teaching lacrosse to kids and young adults with mental and physical disabilities. I also enjoy volunteering each year with the Gries Family Christmas Event serving breakfast and handing out presents to children who deserve an amazing holiday.
I have always loved playing more than one sport especially since they compliment each other. I continue to be a dual sport athlete with fall football (https://recruit-match.ncsasports.org/clientrms/athletes/8187796), winter box lacrosse, spring lacrosse, summer club lacrosse, summer box lacrosse and summer football workouts. With no real offseason, I am always building getting stronger and faster. I have recently tracked the speed of my shots and there is only a 2mph difference between right and left hands.
