Personal Statement

I have always been a very athletic kid, I grew up playing soccer and later got into lacrosse at a young age and fell in love with the sport. I never really put much effort into sports as a kid but getting up there in age I noticed how much I loved athletics and really started pursuing being an athlete and graduating my skill in lacrosse. Since then I have been one of the most hard working kids you'll ever see... showing up to practices hours early so I can put more work in on the field and staying after practice to do the same. As I practice on my own so much it has made me great at passing, catching, and my stick skills through playing lots of wall ball. Although I would not say those are my strongest aspects on the lacrosse field. I would say my shot is my best attribute as I have always been complimented on the power of it and with all the practice I have put in it has increased the speed, power, and accuracy of my shot. One of my favorite and another one of my best attributes on the field is my movement, I love cutting and moving on the field as I am always in great shape as I condition myself every time I go to train. Another reason for being in such great shape is the fact that before I got my drivers license I would hop on my bike and bike to a field to train and home sometime thirty mile round trips which increased my leg strength and explosiveness on the field dodging and acceleration. With shooting on goal a lot while training I have gotten very good at dodging around the crease and being able to put the ball in the back of the net. As a person I feel I would be a good choice to have on any lacrosse team because through my hard work and motivation to be the best I can for my team I end up motivating others around me, for example, players on my team started asking me when I come to the field before practices and asking if they could join me and get some work in with me. I see myself as a great leader and giving people advice that might not be as skilled at lacrosse or just beginning on the sport. My leadership skills go far beyond that as well including being able to pick up my team in times of doubt, making sure everyone is giving their all no matter what. Academically I have always been a smart student, my situation for the past few years has been very stressful and has cost me to not perform to my best throughout some of my high school career but I have always made sure that I have not failed and have always made sure I was in at least a pretty good spot academically. No matter what I will do my best during any hardships and will give it my all in whatever I do. Therefore, I think I will be in good standings academically in college and would love to continue my lacrosse career in college no matter where I go.
