My name is Mike Propersi and I am currently a high school junior. Ever since I can remember I have been committed to playing a variety of sports. During my youth, I enjoyed all different sports and later focused on youth football (2nd – 8th grade) and lacrosse (4th grade to present). When I entered high school, I decided to commit myself fully to becoming the best lacrosse player I could be. Although I do participate in Varsity Cross Country, I play lacrosse year-round, including participating in indoor box lacrosse, high school varsity lacrosse, and summer and fall lacrosse tournaments with my club team (Team 91 Tristate Select). In addition to this, I regularly attend training sessions, camps, showcases, and prospect days. Last year I was only one of three sophomores to earn a Varsity spot and only one of two sophomores to start every game. Although my primary position has always been a midfielder, I embraced the chance to play attack last year during the season. This was where I was needed to play and I worked very hard to ensure that I gave my team 100% of my ability. I was honored to be recognized by my coach and teammates by by earning the 2018 Most Outstanding Varsity Attackman Award. This year I was back at playing midfield and earned the 2019 Most Outstanding Varsity Midfield Award. I was also name ALL FCIAC Team - West. I am very grateful for these honors.
Besides the mental and physical challenge of lacrosse, I truly enjoy the comradery that comes with being on a team. I believe one of my biggest assets is my IQ of the game. I can step up and make a play when needed, but I am more focused on making the smartest decisions that will lead to my team’s success on the field. I believe my decision making and my determination towards team success will translate to the collegiate level.
My academics are as important to me as my athletics. I currently have a 4.13 GPA and have been enrolled in honors/AP courses throughout high school. I also was inducted into the National Honor Society this year. I try to apply the same characteristics to the classroom as I do on the field. I am focused, determined and put forth all my effort to achieve the academic goals I have set for myself. I am looking forward to my college years to be a period of academic, personal and athletic growth, and challenging myself on and off the field. I desire to be a part of an athletic program where I can learn and eventually use my leadership skills.
