So far, throughout my 7 seasons of lacrosse, the most influential quality I have gained is grit. I started lacrosse because my brother played in high school and it looked like an interesting sport that took hard work, intensity, and talent. I took it up in 4th grade and it soon became my passion. Off and on the field, my coaches taught me how to be a respectful teammate and friend. I learned what sportsmanship is through lost games, frustrating opponents, and games where I just didn't play my best. I consistently have played with grades 2-3 years older than me, as there was no team my age. This created an environment where I realized I had to train harder to keep up with my competition. I have learned how to be a positive influence on my teammates and back them up, as I have become close to them and gone through the hardships with them. I have been taught what grit is, it is determination that is used in a way to grind through any obstacles so that none can overcome you, and that is what defines me from other players, along with being able to create strong bonds with teammates and overall boosting team morale.
