Personal Statement

I am not a flashy player but I get the job done.  On man to man defense, I am relentless and will shut down my opponent.   I cross train with basketball and football and I work one on one with Will Nowesnick (3-time All-American).  I'm quick, strong and fearless.  I work very hard to maintain my athleticism.   I have played primarily three sports- lacrosse, football and basketball.  I have started and had a significant role on every sports team I have played on.

I was born and raised in IL.  I was adopted at birth by a caucasian family and raised in a very non-diverse community.  Most of my education I was one of only one or a few African Americans in my school, grade or class.  On my sports teams I was almost always the only athlete of color on the field for either team.  I have learned how to persevere and grow as a person in some very difficult circumstances.  I have learned to channel my emotions appropriately (most of the time) as a consequence.

I have been invited to participate in many leadership opportunities at my high school because whether by choice or not, I am a very influential person in my school.  I work very hard to be a good example to other students and athletes.

In addition to athletics and academics I am involved in YoungLife and my church youth group.  I volunteer with PADS, our church mobile food pantry and coaching youth sports when time permits.

I am still undecided in terms of a major but it will likely be in the math and science areas.

I am serious about lacrosse and want to play at the highest level I am able without compromising my academics.  I am going to make a difference not only on the lacrosse field but also in the classroom and my community.  I hope I am someone you want to get to know. - Josh

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
