Athletics have been a great influence on me as I continue to grow as a person. I’ve benefited from coaches that were highly experienced in the sports I played, but more importantly, they were great people. Each practice and game, they’ve instilled character traits that are important in my everyday life. Whether it be perseverance when I broke my foot before my summer tournaments or humility as a result of a tournament championship, these teachings help guide me throughout my everyday life. When I give lessons to young kids learning the game, I instill the same characteristics I strive to achieve as a young man. Unselfish play is much more important than being the high scorer in every game.
Self-discipline is one of my strongest attributes, but it requires continued focus. As a member of the National Juniors Honor Society, my academics are always my number one priority. Setting clear goals and expectations for myself allows me to successfully balance my school, sports and personal commitments. I’m looking for a program that aligns with my priorities and can benefit from my self-discipline and contributions as a team player.
