Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Matt Daniel. I am currently a junior (class 2020) at Century High School (Eldersburg, MD) and I would like to play lacrosse (attack or offensive midfield) in college.  I am 6 foot 1 inch, 155 pounds, and my dominant hand is right. However, I play left attack because I have an equally good left hand. In fact, most players and coaches that I play against believe that I am a lefty.

I have played lacrosse for a total of 9 years.  Since 2013, I've played club lacrosse for Looney's Lacrosse Club (2020 Green) and I have competed well in tournaments against some of the best Club teams in the US.  Over the past two years, I have scored 27 goals with 18 assists in 24 games helping the Looney's team win a total of 16 games despite missing most of the 2018 season due to mono.  At Century High School, I started on a 9 win / 6 loss Varsity lacrosse team as a sophomore at left attack and scored 10 goals with 6 assists.  As a junior, I have started on a 16 win and 2 loss team and I have scored 30 goals with 17 assists through the regular season and playoffs so far (47 points).  Century advanced to its first State Final. I also play for the Varsity Basketball team as well.

Currently, I have a 3.28 weighted GPA and I take all Honors and AP classes. I believe that academics are very important and I would like obtain a degree in Business with an emphasis in Finance and/or Accounting.  I will continue to study hard to improve my GPA. In addition, I received a 1000 on my SAT. I will be taking the ACT in the Fall of 2019.

In conclusion,  I am a hard-working coachable player with the skills and experience necessary to compete favorably at the collegiate level.  I believe that I'm also a good team player who likes to share the ball and help my teammates succeed whenever possible on and off the field.

Thank You,

Matt Daniel
