The highlight of my high school career thus far is definitely wining the MA Division 1 Lacrosse State Championship. It was one of the most exciting moments of my life. Although this is true, many factors led up to me becoming the athlete and person that I am so that my high school goals could become realities. I have been playing lacrosse for 12 years and it has completely shaped my attitude, effort, and athleticism. Over the years I have had coaches pushing me to do the best that I can and to never give up. I think that has carried over to academics as well. I have become more motivated to work at the best of my ability, and I strive to achieve the best grades as possible.
When I was a freshman, I started out playing JV for the high school and that was a huge accomplishment for me. As a sophomore, I broke my foot playing football and it took 6 months for me to recover, unfortunately meaning that I was not able to have the opportunity to try out for the varsity lacrosse team. This was a big disappointment because making that team was all I could have ever hoped for as a kid, but now I missed the chance. That was my biggest motivating factor in life and, from there on out, I worked twice as hard at everything I did. After months of recovery and building myself back up to be the player that I know I could be, I finally made the varsity team as a Junior and that gave me more confidence than I had ever felt before. I started out as 5th string defensive midfielder, and by the end of the season I was right up there with the starters. I even started my first high school varsity game at Harvard Stadium against Longmeadow. We ended up wining the State Championship and I felt so thankful for the opportunity to be apart of something that special. I now look back on the low point that I went through 2 years ago and it motivates me each and every day because now I know that things could take a turn for the worse at any moment so I have to live each day to my best potential.
