Personal Statement

I am Brody Gilreath, class of 2025. I attend Parkway South High School in Manchester, Missouri. I consider myself to be hardworking, calm, and friendly to everyone. I work hard in school to keep my grades up and work equally hard at the sports I play. I get along well with my teammates, classmates, teachers, and coaches. My friends, teammates, and coaches enjoy being around me because every once in a while I can lighten the mood when things get tough and encourage others to get better.

From a young age I have always played sports. I believe sports have shaped who I am today because they taught me life skills like determination and how to work with others.

From the moment I watched a lacrosse video on YouTube, I fell in love. I bought my first stick shortly after and haven't put a stick down since. I love the way the game flows, how fast paced it is, and how beautiful it is in general.

I learned through playing lacrosse that I can learn things quickly and that I can play well in a team environment. I have also learned through hard work and dedication anything is possible. Through the sport of lacrosse I have gained a lot of confidence which I lacked before playing the game.

Before the end of high school I want to continue to perform well in the classroom while balancing two sports and also continue to improve as well, because there is always room to improve. For college I want to do the same thing and graduate feeling confident and satisfied with how I did.

During my freshman year of high school I was undersized, slow, not as athletic as some of the other kids for football and basketball. But I continued to work hard and grow and by lacrosse season I had gotten faster, and more athletic. This taught me to not give up because the hard work will pay off.

I like to think I'm coachable, hard working, dedicated, and have a good knowledge for the game and in the classroom.
