I decided to repeat my junior year so I will now be in the graduating class of 2024. I am a 5' 11" tall, physical and aggressive FOGO who doesn't shy away from the physical aspect of the position. I grew up playing both lacrosse and hockey, so I've been comfortable with contact and checking for awhile. And while I've played lacrosse for many years, I started facing off the summer before ninth grade. Last year, I became the starter for my high school team, which plays in the NEPSAC Lakes Region District, playing ahead of two seniors who'd played ahead of me the previous year. Our team, which was supposed to be strong this year, was plagued with injuries, so we had a rough season, but the good news is that as a FOGO, I received lots of playing time and lots of opportunities to improve my game. Although our team lost many games, I had a great season, winning approximately 62% of my face-offs while playing against some of the strongest face-off specialists in the NEPSAC Lakes Region District.
Last summer, I trained at Faceoff Factory in Massachusetts, worked with a trainer on strength and fitness, and played for the 4 Leaf 2023 Navy club team. This summer, I will be playing for the 2023 A Navy team in several tournaments and in the Spring of 2023, I will move to one of the 2024 teams. I will also be attending the D3 Showcase in Tinton Falls, NJ, and the APEX Faceoff Factory Summit in Bel Aire, MD. I'll also continue to train at the Faceoff Factory and continue my strength and fitness program. I'm really looking forward to having the opportunity to play for multiple teams with different styles of play this summer.
Academically, I am a A- student who has always chosen to push myself by taking rigorous classes. Already, heading into my junior year, I've taken a number of AP and Honors level courses. In the AP and Honors courses, my grades tend to be A's and B+'s, and I have and plan to continue to take Honors and AP courses throughout high school whenever possible. My hope is to attend an academically rigorous school because I love a challenge and I relish the debates and discussions in classes where students are engaged.
In terms of extracurriculars, I've been a dorm leader since my sophomore year, I serve on the school's Restorative Justice Committee (part of the school's disciplinary committee), I founded and run the Proctor Broadcasting Network, I'm a head tour guide and a student leader for the Admission's Office, and I sit on student panels for prospective students and families. I also directed, hosted, and helped write the script for the Accepted Students Livestream which was held in place of Admitted Students Revisit Day due to Covid. This year, I became certified in CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator). During the summer, I work at a restaurant and volunteer at a Food Pantry where I have an opportunity to utilize my Spanish, and last semester, I did a Semester at Sea working and studying on a Tall Ship.
