My name is Donald Buchanan and I’m part of the 2020 class at Alvirne High School in Hudson, NH. I play midfielder and attack for the Alvirne Broncos varsity team. Some accomplishments I’m proud of most include: playing in a higher age division for my first 3 seasons, back to back 30+ goal seasons for the Hudson Hawks recreational team in 7th and 8th grade, along with a divisional championship in my 8th grade season. I was awarded MVP of my rec team in 2016. I then went on to make varsity as a freshman in high school mainly playing defensive and offensive midfield. My life has been influenced by family and friends helping me make my decisions through life and influencing my choices throughout my sports career along with life itself. I became interested in the sport of lacrosse in the 3rd grade by a friend suggesting it to me so I began to watch YouTube videos on the sport. I played baseball at the time and after seeing the intensity and much faster and more fun play speed of lacrosse, I enrolled in the Litchfield lacrosse program in the 4th grade because Hudson did not have its own program at the time. I have been playing ever since. Through the sport of lacrosse, I have learned dedication and determination by my love for the sport and I began practicing daily at my house and participating in clinics and indoor game-only leagues in the winter to become better, because I knew it was something I could build myself to do good with. I also play varsity football in the fall and recreational basketball in the winter. In addition to my playing on the school varsity lacrosse team, I also will be playing on the New Hampshire Tomahawks Black 2020 team this summer.
My academic goals for high school include achieving a GPA of a 3.0 and higher and I currently have a 2.95 GPA. In college I hope to find a major that will best suit my academic talents as I have still yet to commit to a major to study, but I have been looking into business and engineering. Unique characteristics and skills I possess include a good work ethic and mindset and have been told I am a very coach-able player with a good lacrosse IQ and am able to recognize patterns in the game naturally which gives me a good sense and field awareness. I have also been told that I am a smooth all around player and try my best to be a leader of my high school team.
