For years I’ve wanted to be a college lacrosse player, but only over the last year or so did I begin to understand the amount of work needed to make that goal accomplishable. At first, I doubted myself but as time moved on, I started to grasp the concept of commitment to a sport. I know when I do make it to a collegiate level, it will have a positive impact on the rest of my life. I will build on my leadership abilities, learn how to deal with a higher level of adversity and I will make the best memories with my new teammates and coaches.
In the last two years, I have fully committed myself to the sport of lacrosse because I want to prove to people that I have the skill level to compete with the best. When I step on the field, coaches realize that I am someone that people look up to, listen to, and respect because I believe that it takes more than communication to be a leader, it takes actions.
I love the family that lacrosse brings to the table, the new friendships that lead to chemistry on the field, and the nights after a tournament when the whole team is out to eat and talking over the highs, lows, and lessons from the day of lacrosse we shared. A lot of my friends today have all come from the lacrosse field, and hopefully college lacrosse will bring a unbreakable bond between me and other players on my team.
As a player, I would think of myself as someone who demonstrates a lot of grit and hard work. My stick skills and groundball skills are definitely a strong area, and I do not let other players get in my head. Staying calm and focused on the field is one of the most important aspects to mine and my team’s success. Some athletes make a bad play, hang their heads and let it get to them, instead I leave the play in the past and make sure I make a bigger play the next time I have a chance. Also, in the classroom, I average a GPA of 3.2-3.5 trying my best to stay consistent in the classroom is a big goal for me and something that I work at frequently. I am a consistent volunteer at my church (St.James church) and the foodbank in Hillside NJ.
Lastly, I am looking for a school that offers good academics and a lacrosse team that will bring out the best player in me. I am very open to options, but I will pick the school that I think is right for me. Wherever I go to play lacrosse at the next level, I will bring high energy, great leadership skills, and most importantly, a great teammate to the other players.
