Hello, my name is Sol Chung. I am a junior at West Windsor Plainsboro High school North and will graduate in June 2024.
I was born in Boston, Massachusetts. My family moved to Seoul, Korea when I was seven due to my dad’s job. I moved to the US, and to West Windsor, New Jersey, at 12 where I got introduced to lacrosse.
I started playing lacrosse in the spring of 7th grade when my flag football coach, who was also my middle school lacrosse coach, encouraged me to join the team. I started as a goalie when the team needed a volunteer for the position and it was a great choice. Then in the fall of my eighth grade (2018), I joined Blue Star Lacrosse, where I played for their 2024 Blue team.
Despite the lack of a season due to Covid-19, I believe that I have made tremendous strides in my game with the help of many people. My dad's encouragement combined with coaches such as Dan Fowler, Dave Seurughetti, Chris Petrone, and Don Green, have helped me improve myself as a person and a lacrosse player in many ways.
Along with Lacrosse, I am also involved in many other extracurricular activities:
I played basketball for club teams, and my middle school varsity team, where I was awarded the Coach’s Award in 2019.
I am the first chair bassoonist in my school’s band as well as the Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey (YOCJ). I was also selected to play in the Central Jersey Music Educators Association (CJMEA) state regional band.
I speak two other languages, Mandarin Chinese and Korean.
I currently take the following honors courses: AP Chemistry, AP Language Arts, AP US History, Pre-Calculus Honors, and Chinese 4 Honors.
I volunteer at a Korean school as well
My hobbies (besides lacrosse) include playing basketball, music, and playing video games. My favorite video game is Tetris.
Whether it be when playing lacrosse, or in the classroom, I am excited for the challenges that will come during my journey through high school and beyond.
