My name is Dylan Lawler and I am a multi-sport student athlete with a passion for lacrosse. I am committed to continuously working to improve my skills and I aspire to play lacrosse at the college level. I have been lucky to have had some really good coaches along the way so far. They have each taught me ways to refine and improve my lacrosse I.Q. and my game.
I started playing lacrosse in 2nd grade and haven't stopped since. My first experience with club lacrosse was in 5th grade. At the time, the club program I was involved with did not have a team at my grade level and I was asked to play with the 7th grade team. Although it was intimidating at first, I was up for the challenge. My teammates and opponents were older, stronger and faster than I was but in the end practicing and playing at their level helped me improve. I was named captain of the Freshman team last spring which was a great opportunity for me to demonstrate my ability to be a leader on the field and share my love for the game. This year I am playing in both the Varsity and JV games as an attackman and a mid-fielder as needed.
In addition to playing lacrosse, my freshman year I also played on the high school football team and basketball team. Playing multiple sports and keeping my grades up isn't always easy. It takes effort and time management, but its worth every minute and I find that I work better with a busy schedule. I find that in many ways the different sports compliment one another and have similarities that help strengthen me as a student athlete and as a teammate. In my sophomore year, I played on the JV/Varsity Football team as the kicker and I decided to play basketball in a recreation league instead of on the high school team to allow me an "off season" to focus on school and off season training in the gym. I also enjoy playing in a box lacrosse league in the winter. I have participated in a local league the past 2 years and it has helped my game and its been a lot of fun.
Outside of sports, I am an active participant in Key Club for 2 years now. Key Club is a service related club that provide opportunities to volunteer my time and give back to my community. I look forward to continuing with my participation in this club and finding ways to get involved in the community where I go to college as well.
In my free time, I enjoy biking, playing golf and hanging out with friends and family. My family is very important to me. My parents both work full time and my father is also in the Army National Guard. I have two younger brothers that are close in age and following in my footsteps with playing sports.
