The guiding principle behind my love for lacrosse is my belief in its educational value as a part of my broader learning experience. In my opinion, lacrosse promotes character traits of high value to personal development and success. These include the drive to take my talents to the highest level of performance; embracing the discipline needed to reach high standards; learning to work with others as a team in pursuit of a higher goal; and adherence to codes of fairness and respect. My lacrosse teams even plays an important role in creating a sense of community at my high school – Westlake HS in Austin, TX.
My mission for lacrosse defines the expectations I have for myself on, and off, the field. I consistently aim for a level of athletic performance that will produce winning seasons and the realistic opportunity to compete for team championships. My mission also requires me to be the best student I can be taking full advantage of all the academic resources and AP courses my school has to offer. In addition, I am also committed to participating in the social development of my team, school and community by demonstrating the values of citizenship and service on a consistent basis.
Lacrosse is a critical component of the student athlete I’ve become and it will continue to play a critical role in the shaping of my character going forward.
