I still remember the day my mom took my younger brother and I to a sports store and bought us our first lacrosse sticks. Granted, that was only five years ago so there is a chance that it’s still in my short-term memory. I was ten and really had no clue why she wanted me to play, but I’ll always appreciate that she took the chance to see if it would stick. Originally, I had some trouble getting used to it, I’d played baseball for a long time, but despite my slow start I kept working at getting better at lacrosse and it paid off!
Lacrosse is a sport I’ve come to love. I feel that my athletic ability is tailor-made for the speed, fluidity, and swiftness of lacrosse. That’s what I love about playing, I’m constantly learning and applying what I’ve learned from different coaches, teammates, and studying. Another aspect that I love is that I can help mentor younger players in my area in that same way that others have helped me. Lacrosse is a brotherhood and I’ve been lucky to meet people from different walks of life and have this passion in common.
I’m not afraid of hard work or getting my hands dirty. I know going to college and playing lacrosse is the next challenge on my horizon, but it is a challenge I’m willing to take. I hope to not only excel in the classroom but on the field as well. My college search is something I’m taking seriously because I know the school I choose will set me up for my future while allowing me to continue building relationships on and off the field.
