I did not realize how much of a huge impact rowing would have on my life, school and personal growth until recently. When I began rowing I started to see the world in a different perspective. In a great way, rowing helped me physically and mentally. I evolved physically at school and I also matured in my personal life. I first started rowing when I was 16 years old and initially I thought it would be just a casual sport, after a while it became something I looked forward to everyday. The motivation and commitment I felt with rowing also made me more motivated to do well in school so I could focus on the future ahead of me that would include rowing at the University level.
When I was younger I could not find the right sport that made me want to commit to the training needed. I was always good at sports but had not found one that I loved. Rowing continues to make me push my boundaries to be physically and mentally better week after week. Rowing gave me a stronger mindset and the ability to push past my endurance, not only in rowing but in all areas of my life. Rowing is physically challenging but it is also the place where I feel the most motivated, peaceful and determined to meet physical challenges. Rowing came to me later in my teenage years but now I cannot imagine it not being part of my life and I am grateful for the life-lessons it has taught me so far, I know there are many more to come.
