I've always enjoyed trying new things, so when I started rowing, I was very excited. It was a new experience and I enjoyed it a lot. Though I started in 6th grade, I did not begin competitive rowing until 9th grade. By the end of 9th grade, I became very committed to the sport and really fell in love with rowing. There are many aspects of the sport that I enjoy. I like finding rhythms which really helps me be in time with everyone else in my boat. I also like feeling that power and surge behind a boat, which almost lifts you out of the water. Rowing really is a great sport.
Academically, I'm very interested in learning. I enjoy all subjects, but I hope to learn more about business in college. I am also taking a few courses outside of school. I think what sets me apart from my peers is that I never quit trying. Whether it be in the classroom practicing math problems, or if I am out on the water and the wind and wakes are getting the better of us. I will always try to make the best out of the situation, and do as much as I can to make things better, whether it's encouraging my teammates or just putting more power behind the boat, I am never going to quit.
