I pride myself in my coachability and drive. This past Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 has been a season accomplishment and improvement. I was given the Hammer Award this year and I am very proud of the hard work that earned it. This included my land workouts as well as trying new boat configurations. In a boat I take the role of the engine room, but there is more to me than being the muscle of the lineup. I see myself as a leader, striving to get the best from my fellow oarsmen. I am also a teammate, willing to cooperate for the success of the crew.
Outside of rowing and school, I am a ballet dancer and Eagle Scout. I have performed in numerous productions over the past 9 years, and I am currently a company member of Classical Ballet of CA. I have also served as a counselor for many scout camps. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to spend multiple consecutive weeks at Boy Scout camps located in the Sierra Mountains as well as the Santa Cruz Mountains teaching outdoor and camping skills.
I am proud of my academic record, and the fact that I have had to work twice as hard to achieve it due to my ADHD. I still have academic success even with learning challenges and at the same time take 2/3 of my courses as honors or AP. My drive as an oarsman allows me to focus on both rowing and my studies as I overcome challenges.
Thanks to the sense of brotherhood and high academic and athletic achievement promoted by my high school, I have become a well-rounded person. All of my experiences have helped me grow as a person and develop skills necessary for rowing and life.
