On my team, I try to be a role model by constantly chasing after the person who is faster than me on the erg, running or when we are on the water; whether or not that person is a heavyweight or a lightweight. I try to chase them down to not only further myself but to inspire competition among us so that we can slowly try to become the fastest team there is. The more I do crew, the more I feel like I have grown in maturity and apply what I learn through rowing into other aspects of my life such as school or social life. I have learned that what I need to do in order to not only better myself, but the people around me, I have to say that it is never enough and strive to be the fastest, well-versed and likable person that I can be.
