Rowing is not just a sport for me; it is my whole life. Rowing is the last thing I think about when I go to sleep and the first when I wake up. I started to row in 7th grade after I saw a friend’s sister compete at a regatta in Sarasota Florida. The moment I saw the first boat cross the finish line I knew this is what I wanted to do. Since, then I have put my heart and soul into being the best rower I can be.
Every time I sit on the erg, I always learn something new about myself whether it is the power of my body or my mind. I am constantly pushing myself to be the best I can be with rapidly increasing results. I am 135 pounds but I pull the times of rowers who are 15-20 pounds heavier than me on my team. My proficiency earned me a seat on the 1st Varsity 4+ boat which won 1st place at the FSRA Sweeps State Championship in 2021.
I am energized and motivated by my teammates and I am a strong team member who is driven to motivate and lead. Rowing has taught me I can always be better, and if I work hard enough, I can meet and even exceed my goals. My goals for the future are to continue to push my limits and be challenged academically and athletically. I am looking to be part of a competitive college rowing team where I can continue to grow, and where my drive, dedication, and passion will be an asset.
