Growing up in theatre and doing swim team, I learned how to be a leader through observation and experience. When I sat down for the first time in the cox seat and made my first call to row, I felt something in my head click into place, and I knew that this was the place for me. Being a Coxswain has taught me the importance of effective communication and strategic decision-making, and I use these skills to make split decisions and win races with my crew.
These skills of communication and the ability to work well under pressure has transferred to the classroom, and it has helped me everyday to work productively with my classmates and teachers, complete excellent work in a timely manner, and to maintain a high gpa, even when taking advanced classes.
Being a Coxswain has, and still is, teaching me how to be a better leader and role model every day; on the water and in the classroom.
