Personal Statement

Hello Coaches, I am the 1V coxswain and a varsity captain for Bromfield Acton-Boxborough Rowing. I am going into my third year with the program as a Senior attending The Bromfield School in Harvard, MA. I am a committed athlete looking to cox for a competitive team. I am currently planning on taking a postgraduate year, looking to apply to schools for the Fall of 2025. I have a range of experience in different atmospheres. I have coxed head races, including experience coxing HOCR, as well as sprint races. I have coxed internationally with Sparks Rowing during their England Coxswain Leadership program. While in England I coxed on the Thames tideway out of the Thames Rowing Club. I quickly adapted to the challenging contour and conditions of the river, while using its tactical advantages in racing. Having this wide range of experience with different athletes has made me a much more adaptive person and I find it easier to connect with a new lineup and tailor my coxing to their preference. I know what my athletes feel since I row with many of them. I strongly believe that improving comes from experience, therefore I row as well. I race singles, doubles and quads whenever I can, and will fill into seats on port whenever needed. As a member of a smaller team it's not uncommon that I will be needed to row to fill a lineup. Experiencing what my rowers feel gives me a great advantage as a coxswain. Not only does it help me with the mechanics and sequencing of rowing, but it helps me understand the mentality of my athletes and what they need to hear from me to maximize boat speed. I am a proactive person in practice and constantly look for ways to help my fellow athletes and coaches in any way, both on the water and on land. I encourage and push each rower to do their best regardless of if they're in my boat or not, team culture and success is very important to me.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
